| 中文摘要:确认型重复是闻者在互动会话中对重复他人的字、词或句表示赞同和确认的语言策略。本文重点研究汉语会话中位于序列二位的确认型重复的句法特征、韵律特点和序列位置，研究发现确认型重复的主要功能之一就是表现闻者参与会话的积极态度和在出现矛盾的语境中营造和谐与合作的氛围，进而为Sacks提出的“和谐优选”的观点提供了有力证据；确认型重复的使用与具体会话语境和不同的文化价值观密切相关。 |

| A Comparative Study of Confirmatory Repeats in English and Mandarin Chinese Conversations |

| Abstract:The practice of agreeing by repeating what others have said in the prior talk can be seen as one type of brief recipient responses in talk in interaction. This paper examines the syntactic features, prosodic configurations and sequential positioning of confirmatory repeats in Mandarin conversation. The data show that one major conversational function of repeats is to display active recipiency and transfer a disagreement relevant environment into an agreement relevant one, which furnishes more evidence for Sacks’ view of “the preference for agreement” in conversation in general. It is concluded that contexts and cultural values might play a crucial role in the employment of repeats in Mandarin Chinese conversation. |
