Abstract:Based on narratology, this paper analyzes ecological narrative strategies in Atwood’s novels in four aspects, which are narrative sequence, narrative space time, ecological metaphors and symbols, as well as ironic narration. There are a few findings. Firstly, Atwood increased the richness and complexity of narrative through diversifying complex narrative sequence. Secondly, Atwood took multi views to provide new experience and models of literary narrative. Besides, the complex of the symbol of totality, plot and image were employed to form the multi level art. Finally, ecologically ironic narration is analyzed in terms of meaning and rhetorical functions. The writer emphasizes that, judging from the way of ecological narrative, Atwood used the narrative strategies listed above to complete the representation of ecological themes, and to combine the representation with meaning, to show his ecological humanism and consciousness. |
