中文摘要:基于对认知信息加工理论和翻译认知过程的研究成果,探讨翻译过程中译者控制加工与自动化加工的内涵,构建以记忆系统为核心的译者控制加工与自动化加工模型。研究表明,译者控制加工是译者确定问题及解决问题的过程,译者自动化加工是译者快速理解表达的过程。后者主要加工译者的常用词汇及句型,为长难句及语篇的控制加工提供可能。译者加工模型研究显示,自动化加工是控制加工的基础,控制加工可修正和弥补自动化加工的缺漏。两者并行互补,均强调长时记忆与工作记忆的互动。如何培养学生译者将其控制加工能力更有效地转化为自然娴熟的自动化加工能力应是翻译教学的方向。

Translators’ Controlled and Automatic Processing in Cognitive Processes of Translation
Abstract:Based on the theories of cognitive information processing and researches on cognitive processes of translation, this paper explains the meaning of translators’ controlled and automatic processing followed by a proposal of a mode for translators’ controlled and automatic processing. Results show that translators’ controlled processing is a problem-defining and-solving process; the automatic processing is a non-problem process in which translators can comprehend and express quickly. Automatic processing mainly processes the frequently-used vocabulary and simple sentences, so as to facilitate the controlled processing of difficult long sentences and discourses. The process model demonstrates that the controlled processing can compensate for the automatic processing, with the later as the basis of the former. They are parallel and complementary to each other, underlining the interaction between long-term memory and working memory. How to convert student translators’ controlled processing capacity to skilled automatic processing should make a pedagogical issue in translation education.
