| The Character Ge, the State Ge and the Minister Ge |

| Abstract:The explanation of the character Ge in Shuowen Jiezi is wrong. According to the shapes of Ge in the inscriptions on oracle bones and bronzes, Ge mean to be tribute and pronounced as Ge, which could be confirmed by the usage of the character Ge. The clan Ge in Shang and Zhou dynasties was actually the clan Guan, while the Ge ministers were from other states. |
