| Rethinking on Goncharov’s Shaping of Ideal Characters |

| Abstract:The shaping of ideal characters is an important approach used by Gontcharov to raise the social issues and to reveal the social ideals via literary works. The selection and depiction of those characters is linked with Goncharov’s typical view on literature and as well reflects the close connection between Russian literature and social reality. The studies on the process of shaping Goncharov’s ideal characters, the molding of personalities and their causes offer significant references to our understanding of Russian liberalism writers represented by Goncharov in the mid-19th century and their views on society, ethics and literature. |
