A Textual Research on “Tang Huang” ——The Reading Notes about the Bamboo Slips and Stone Relief

Abstract:This paper firstly analyzes some kinds of literature materials like the signature words in the Juyan Bamboo Slips of the Han Dynasty and the images which appear in the mural paintings in tomb Han Dynasty, the stone relief of the Han Dynasty, Dun Huang manuscripts and paintings in the Tang and Song Dynasties. With the help of the textual research on these materials, this paper concludes that “Tang Huang” of Han Dynasty is a specialized definition of the buildings like hall, whose facade is open and which is used for receiving guests and handling general affairs.
