中文摘要:荀子与朱子均主张为学以礼、学以至圣。荀子主张“大积靡”,朱子力推“格物致知”,均强调以经验主义的方式求知,注重循序渐进、日积月累。荀子、朱子的性论不同,但两人都强调心的认知功能及对性情的主宰作用。两人均将“心”视为连接知识与道德的肯綮,荀子主张“虚壹而静”,朱子强调“主敬涵养”。朱子的“主敬涵养”更贴合传统儒学的礼教精神,同时又融合了佛道的修养体系,是更具操作性和理学特色的修养工夫。

Learning in the Way of Ritual and Learning to be a Sage——An Analysis of Xunzi and Zhuxi’s Perspective on Learning
Abstract:Xunzi and Zhuxi both suggested to learn in the way of ritual and take sage as the final goal. They all recommended an empirical way of learning which asks for gradual progress and longtime accumulation, Xunzi proposed to accumulate as much knowledge as we can and Zhuxi advocated to investigate more things for the sake of extending knowledge. Although they held different views on human nature, their emphasis on the cognitive function and presiding place over human nature and emotions of mind was similar. Xunzi advised people to keep their mind in the state of aeriality, concentration and quietness while Zhuxi provided with a specific neo-confucianism method of cultivation by holding fast to the mind and nourishing the nature much closer to traditional Confucianism ethics and easier to operate owing to its’ assimilation of Buddhist and Taoist way of self-cultivation.
