| Abstract:How do the traditional media such as newspapers earn a place in the convergence media era? News is very important for the newspapers, whose headlines are necessary for excellent news. It is useful for the journalist to understand the linguistic features of the excellent news headlines, which embodies in four aspects. Firstly, it is about phonetic features, for example, the use of phonetic steps in accordance with the habits of language users, paying attention to syllable symmetry, applying the homonyms and controlling the total numbers of headlines’ syllables. Secondly, it is about lexical features, for instance, the use of words with certain special meaning, using the polysemous words, idioms, popular words, numeral abbreviation, and the words with different meaning. Thirdly, it is about the grammatical features, such as the use of complex sentences and simple sentences. Finally, it is about the rhetorical features, such as antithesis, metaphor, analogy, metonymy, and rhetorical questions. |
